On this course Alex will guide you through the painting of a complex still life arrangement from conception to resolution. Not all paintings are conceived, developed and delivered in the space of one art class; this course is a four week journey through one piece of work.
Felt is the earliest non-woven fabric. Every lock of wool has a different characteristic. Learn how to make felt with Sarah Waters, painting with fibres from the laying out of wools to the finished object.
We offer a variety of courses that are aimed at different interests and abilities. The classes are mostly 2 hours long with ideas and suggestions that you can pursue beyond the class.
On this four-day Masterclass, you will explore the fundamentals of painting what you see using Still Life arrangements as your subjects. With a strong emphasis on colour. This class is suitable for all. Alex’s approach demystifies the experience of oil painting. He shows how looking at the world as a Jigsaw Puzzle of colour shapes you can make sense of it, and depict it in paint.
