What to expect on this Colour Mixing Workshop
When we look at something we see a colour.

This colour is created by the light falling on the object, person, or landscape. Learning how to mix the right colour means that you will be better able to see and understand the subject in front of you. Colour is very exciting!
When we look at colour, we don’t look at one colour in isolation. The better understanding of the relationships between the colours, the more harmonious the painting will be.
Oil paint is a wonderful medium for exploring colour. It is very versatile and can be used to mix colours of great depth and strength as well as those of great subtlety and delicacy. All you need is a large palette, a palette knife and some paint.

Setting out your palette and keeping it clean are one of the first things to learn when trying to mix clean colours. These clean colours will give you greater clarity in your painting. Colour mixing is one of the most important skills to understand when painting. This day course will teach you to understand the interaction of different colours, how to mix them, and how to use them in your painting.
We will start by making a colour wheel. Mixing the paint carefully to make even steps around the circle.
We will explore complimentary colours and see how they work together, and we will learn how to mix a variety of different greys.
